Security agencies bust terror module, 8 suspects arrested across Bengal and Tamil Nadu

In a major breakthrough, Indian intelligence and security agencies have dismantled a significant terror module, arresting eight suspects during a coordinated joint operation across Tamil Nadu and West Bengal. Acting on specific intelligence, officials apprehended six individuals in Tamil Nadu—specifically from Tiruppur, Palladam, and Uthukuli—and two others in West Bengal. The suspects were reportedly operating under the instructions of Pakistan’s ISI and Bangladesh-based terror networks, plotting large-scale subversive activities across several Indian cities.

The arrested suspects from Tamil Nadu, identified as Mizanur Rahman, Mohammad Shabat, Umar, Mohammad Litan, Mohammad Shahid, and Mohammad Ujjal, have been shifted to Delhi for intensive interrogation. Investigators revealed that the group included Bangladeshi nationals who had infiltrated the country and were living under assumed identities using forged Aadhaar cards. Some of the suspects were reportedly working in the garment industry while secretly conducting reconnaissance of sensitive locations and religious sites.

During the raids, authorities seized dozens of mobile phones, 16 SIM cards, and various digital devices used to communicate with foreign handlers through encrypted social media platforms. The module’s activities first came under the scanner after "Free Kashmir" posters appeared at Delhi metro stations during a recent AI Summit. Preliminary findings suggest the group was planning improvised explosive device (IED) attacks to avenge recent events in Pakistan, prompting a high alert at iconic landmarks like the Red Fort and temples in Chandni Chowk.
