BJP gherao 'New TMC' MLA Sandipan Saha's house in Entally, protest over 'cut money'
A major security breach was reported at the Parliament complex in Delhi on Friday morning, when a man attempted to scale its boundary wall and jump inside. The incident took place around 6 AM, officials confirmed. The intruder was immediately detained by security personnel and handed over to the Delhi Police.
Speaking to *Hindustan Times*, a Rajya Sabha official stated, *“One man tried to enter the building in an unauthorised manner at 6 AM today. He has been caught.”* Further investigation into his identity and motive is currently underway.
This incident has raised fresh concerns about the security of India’s highest legislative body, coming less than two years after the sensational December 13, 2023 breach, when two men leapt into the Lok Sabha chamber during proceedings, releasing yellow gas from canisters and shouting slogans. The incident had coincided with the 22nd anniversary of the 2001 Parliament terror attack.
The 2023 case saw six accused persons, including Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan D, arrested for the coordinated intrusion. Recently, the Delhi High Court granted bail to two of them — Neelam Azad and Mahesh Kumawat — under strict conditions, including mandatory reporting to police thrice a week and a ban on media interaction. Friday’s intrusion attempt has once again put the spotlight on whether current measures are sufficient to secure the Parliament complex.
