Security tight at Ranchi airport after 14 airports received bomb threats

Increased security measures have been implemented at airports across the country after a threatening email was sent, warning of bomb attacks at 14 airports, including Patna and the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in Delhi. The email was received by airport authorities. Consequently, stringent security protocols have been enforced, with thorough luggage checks for all passengers at airports, including Ranchi.

The email, which was sent to Delhi's IGI airport at approximately 3:15 pm, also targeted airports in cities such as Patna, Lucknow, Bangalore, Bhopal, Jammu, Ahmedabad, Calicut, and Agartala. Despite security checks conducted following the threat, no suspicious items were found, prompting authorities to label the email as fake.

While Ranchi's Birsa Munda Airport did not receive any specific threat, precautionary measures have been implemented to enhance security. Dhananjay Tiwari, the Airport Director (in-charge) of Ranchi Airport, confirmed the absence of any threatening communication received directly. However, in response to the threats reported at other airports, security has been increased at Ranchi Airport.
