Security tightened, 36-km route decorated for Shrawani Mela in Tarakeswar for Shiva devotees

Ahead of the start of Shravan month, West Bengal's Tarakeswar has been fully prepared for the annual Shrawani Mela. The pilgrimage sees lakhs of Shiva devotees walking 36 kilometres from Baidyabati Ganga Ghat to the Tarakeswar Shiva temple to offer holy water. The entire route has been decorated, and arrangements have been made to manage the crowd during this high-footfall period.

Administrative meetings involving seven state ministers and senior officials have been held to ensure the smooth functioning of the fair. Security has been intensified at Seoraphuli and Tarakeswar railway stations. Hooghly Rural Police and Chandannagar Police Commissionerate are overseeing traffic and safety at various railway gates, roads, and intersections. Twenty temporary toilets have been installed along the route for public use.

Authorities have put in place crowd control measures and surveillance at key transit points. Additional police personnel are being deployed at sensitive spots, and monitoring will continue throughout the mela period. The focus is on maintaining order, ensuring hygiene, and facilitating uninterrupted movement for pilgrims across the entire 36-km stretch.
