Night blaze behind Sealdah station burns down several food stalls
Debabrata Sarkar (48), a senior employee at a reputed private company, was found dead in his 2BHK flat in an upscale residential complex in Chinar Park, on Sunday morning. His wife discovered his body hanging from a ceiling fan in the prayer room after noticing his absence for several hours. A suicide note was found at the scene, which is currently under investigation.
Sarkar, who had purchased the flat two years ago, had been facing mounting financial difficulties. He had taken on significant debt, which sources say had become increasingly unmanageable. His only son, who was enrolled in a prestigious private school, had several months of unpaid tuition and examination fees. Family members have confirmed that these financial strains contributed to the tension within the household.
The incident occurred on a Sunday, when Sarkar and his wife had a heated argument over the overdue school fees for their son. According to family sources, the argument escalated, though it is still unclear whether this played a direct role in the tragic event. Police are investigating the contents of the suicide note for further insight into the situation.
The body was sent to RG Kar Hospital for a post-mortem examination, and a thorough investigation is being conducted by Baguiati Police Station. Police are focusing on the family’s financial situation, Sarkar’s debts, and the ongoing personal challenges. Authorities are gathering additional evidence, including examining Sarkar’s financial records, to fully understand the circumstances surrounding the death.
