In a series of unfortunate traffic accidents in Kolkata, several individuals were injured as cargo vehicles collided with two-wheelers across different locations in the city on Tuesday.
The first incident occurred at Karl Marx Sarani in the Watganj police station area, where a cargo vehicle hit a motorcycle, causing the rider to fall and sustain serious injuries. The injured, identified as 34-year-old Saurin Samanta from Haldia in East Medinipur, was rushed to SSKM Hospital with the help of residents. He is currently undergoing treatment. The police have seized the vehicle involved and taken its driver into custody.
In another incident at the RR Avenue and Mayo Road crossing in the Hare Street police station area, a car collided with a motorcycle, injuring 28-year-old Chandan Kumar. He was also taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Additionally, a cargo vehicle hit a scooter on Raja SC Malik Road in the Netaji Nagar police station area and fled the scene. Nomita Sarkar, 57, who was a pillion rider on the scooter, was injured, while the scooter driver narrowly escaped. Nomita was taken to the hospital for medical attention.
