No eviction drive in Burrabazar & College Street, clarifies KMC Commissioner
A mini bus carrying pilgrims from Maharashtra met with an accident on the Agra–Lucknow Expressway in Firozabad district on Friday. The vehicle lost control near the 74-kilometer milestone after a tire burst and collided with the divider, causing injuries to seven passengers. Four of the injured sustained serious injuries and were referred to Mini PGI, Saifai, for further treatment.
Eyewitnesses reported panic and chaos as the bus swerved uncontrollably. The injured pilgrims, all on a religious tour from Maharashtra visiting Mathura and Ayodhya, were immediately assisted by local police and the UP Expressways Development Authority (UPEDA) team, who also managed traffic and cleared the expressway.
The seriously injured include Lakshmi Bai (70), Pratibha (70), Sahib Rai (90), Nandkishor Wamre, and Leelavati (70), all residents of Maharashtra. Three other injured passengers were admitted to the hospital in Sirsa Ganj. Rescue and medical assistance were promptly provided, minimizing further complications.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Anuj Chaudhary confirmed that the tire burst caused the mini bus to collide with the divider. Legal proceedings are underway, and police continue to investigate the incident to determine the exact cause and accountability.
