Bengal Govt elevates IPS Ajay Mukund Ranade to DGP (Law and Order)
Political tensions intensified in the Hridaypur area under the Barasat Assembly constituency after BJP workers were allegedly attacked late Wednesday night. According to local sources, a group of miscreants launched a sudden assault on BJP workers in the area, triggering panic and unrest across the locality. The situation rapidly escalated into violence, with reports of bomb-throwing and physical clashes emerging from the scene. Several individuals sustained injuries during the incident and were subsequently admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The incident comes amid a changing political landscape in the state following the announcement of the election results on May 4. Political observers have noted growing internal divisions within the Trinamool Congress, alongside reports of several Trinamool workers shifting allegiance to the BJP. In various areas, newly inducted BJP supporters have faced allegations of engaging in retaliatory political activities, contributing to heightened tensions between rival political groups. Against this backdrop, reports of factional disputes within the BJP itself have also begun to surface in multiple regions.
Following the violence in Hridaypur, a large police contingent was deployed to the area to prevent any further deterioration of the law-and-order situation. Police personnel remained stationed in the locality as tension continued to prevail after the clashes. Meanwhile, political accusations and counter-allegations intensified regarding the identities and affiliations of those allegedly involved in the attack. Authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident.
