Train passengers on the Sealdah division are set to face major disruptions this weekend as Eastern Railway has announced the cancellation of multiple local trains. The railway authorities have cited essential track maintenance at Gobardanga station as the reason behind the cancellations. Work will continue on both the up and down lines from Saturday night to Sunday morning, leading to service suspensions and detours on several routes.
The affected routes include Bangaon, Krishnanagar, Naihati, and Barasat, which are crucial for thousands of daily commuters. With several local trains cancelled, passengers are expected to experience significant inconvenience. The railway has urged commuters to check the updated schedule before traveling.
On Saturday, major train cancellations include the Sealdah-Bangaon route, where trains numbered 33851, 33859, 33861, and 33863 will not operate. Similarly, on the downward route, trains 33854, 33856, 33858, and 33860 will remain suspended. Other affected services include the Naihati-Bandel, Sealdah-Gede, and Sealdah-Shantipur locals.
The disruption will continue into Sunday, affecting key routes such as Barasat-Bangaon, Sealdah-Habra, Naihati-Bandel, Sealdah-Gede, Sealdah-Shantipur, and Ranaghat-Lalgola. Long-distance services between Krishnanagar City, Lalgola, and Azimganj will also be impacted, causing further challenges for travelers.
Railway authorities have confirmed that certain trains will be diverted to alternative routes. However, delays are expected, and passengers are advised to make alternative travel arrangements. This is not the first time such maintenance work has disrupted local train services, sparking frustration among daily commuters.
