Disruption in metro services between Dumdum and Dakshineswar; normal services resume after 2 hours
Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) supremo Sharad Pawar weighed in on the question of projecting a prime ministerial face for the Opposition-led INDIA bloc ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Pawar emphasized that there would be no consequences if a specific face is not projected, citing the 1977 elections when Morarji Desai emerged as the Prime Minister without prior projection.
Pawar's remarks came amidst reports that some parties within the bloc were considering Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge as a potential PM candidate.
The INDIA bloc, however, is yet to officially announce a name.
