Muzaffarpur hospital blaze kills 3 patients, leaves 20 injured
Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) chief Sharad Pawar will be discharged from Ruby Hall Clinic in Pune on Saturday after recovering from a chest infection, hospital authorities said. The 85-year-old Rajya Sabha member was admitted earlier this week after complaining of breathing difficulty and persistent cough.
Dr Purvez Grant, Chief Cardiologist, Chairman and Managing Trustee of the hospital, said Pawar is in good health and has responded well to treatment. “Mr Pawar is in good health and has recovered well. He will be discharged today,” the doctor said, adding that the medical team has advised him to take adequate rest before gradually resuming routine work and public engagements.
Pawar was brought to the private hospital from his residence in Baramati on February 9 after developing chest congestion. His daughter, Supriya Sule, had earlier said he required a five-day course of antibiotics but that his other vital parameters were normal.
Party leader Rohit Pawar also stated that the veteran leader was not kept in the ICU and was under observation in a private room. He urged party workers and supporters to avoid visiting the hospital to prevent inconvenience to other patients.
A former Union Minister and an oral cancer survivor, Pawar remains one of Maharashtra’s most prominent political figures. Doctors have recommended a few days of rest before he resumes public engagements.
