India has announced seven all-party parliamentary delegations to undertake a diplomatic outreach campaign following Operation Sindoor, the precision strikes conducted against Pakistan-sponsored terror camps. Congress MP Shashi Tharoor will lead one delegation, along with other prominent leaders including Supriya Sule from the Nationalist Congress Party and Ravi Shankar Prasad from the Bharatiya Janata Party. These delegations will represent India on international platforms to communicate the country’s zero-tolerance stance on terrorism.
The delegations, comprising approximately 40 parliamentarians divided into seven groups, are scheduled to visit multiple countries over a 10-day period starting May 23, 2025. Key destinations include the United States, United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, South Africa, and Japan. Each group is expected to have around seven to eight members and will engage with foreign governments and diplomatic institutions to present India’s position on cross-border terrorism, especially following the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22 that killed 26 people.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, responsible for coordinating the tour, stated on social media, “In moments that matter most, Bharat stands united. Seven All-Party Delegations will soon visit key partner nations, carrying our shared message of zero tolerance for terrorism.” The delegations will focus on briefing nations about Operation Sindoor, which targeted terror infrastructure within Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, clarifying that civilians were not the targets.
Operation Sindoor was launched on May 7, 2025, as a direct response to the Pahalgam terror attack. The strikes reportedly killed over 100 terrorists in Pakistan and PoJK. The government’s announcement of the diplomatic delegations aims to build international support for India’s efforts against terrorism and present evidence of Pakistan’s involvement in cross-border terrorism to global partners.
