Amidst the ongoing tension in Sandeshkhali, where numerous women have leveled accusations of "land-grab and sexual assault" against Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Shajahan Sheikh and his associates, TMC Rajya Sabha MP-elect Sagarika Ghose has expressed confidence in the imminent arrest of the key accused, Sheikh Shahjahan. Ghose, affirmed the government's commitment to address the issue, stating, "The TMC and the Bengal Government are on the ground; they are working and there is every reason to believe that Sheikh Shahjahan will be arrested very soon."

Ghose emphasized the ongoing government actions, highlighting the arrest of key aides of Sheikh Shahjahan and the establishment of camps for registering complaints and returning disputed land to aggrieved parties. Sandeshkhali, situated in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district, has been witnessing widespread protests against Sheikh and his associates, with allegations of sexual harassment and land-grabbing persisting. Despite the unrest, Sheikh remains at large, evading arrest, as both state and central agencies continue their efforts to locate him.
