In a shocking incident, a seven-year-old boy stands accused of sexually assaulting a five-year-old girl from his neighborhood in Kanpur Dehat district. This distressing event took place late Sunday night in a village within the jurisdiction of Akbarpur police station. The incident came to light when the girl's mother filed a complaint, prompting the police to register an FIR under sections 376 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 5/6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act on Tuesday.
Both children involved in the incident have been sent to the district hospital, where a medical examination has confirmed sexual assault. The victim's mother said her daughter had gone out to play when the incident took place.
Local authorities, including the Akbarpur Kotwali police station inspector Satish Singh, have taken a cautious approach to this case. Under Indian law, if a child below the age of seven commits an offense, it does not typically fall under the category of a criminal act. However, the authorities are seeking legal opinions on how to proceed further in this particular case. The FIR was officially registered on Tuesday.
