In the quiet haze of a Kolkata Monday morning, chaos erupted in South Kolkata's Haridevpur, a shootout took place leaving a woman over 50 writhing in pain on the street. Mousumi Halder, a local resident, was passing near Haridevpur club when two assailants on a motorcycle roared up from behind and fires her in the back. Eyewitnesses described the heart-pounding scene: the bike's engine revving as the attackers fled into the urban sprawl, vanishing before anyone could react. Mousumi's son, who was nearby, rushed and took her to MR Bangur Hospital.
Doctors there quickly assessed her as critical, stabilizing her before transferring her to SSKM Hospital for advanced care. The brazen daylight attack has impacted fear amongst locals. As police from Haridevpur station swarmed the scene, cordoning off the bloodstained pavement and poring over scattered clues, the initial probe pointed to a deep-seated personal enmity as the likely trigger. Neighbours claimed Mousumi as a familiar face in the area, her routine morning stroll turning into a mayhem in seconds.
As per latest reports, the accused has been arrested within three hours by Kolkata Police. The arrested man's name is Bablu Ghosh. After shooting at his girlfriend, Bablu fled from his house with his belongings in a rented car, claimed by the local neighbours. During investigation, many locals told police that accused left in a car. After that, the cops of Haridevpur police station searched for the owner of that car and was arrested near Kolkata PTS maidan area
