Shubman Gill becomes first player to score 2,000 runs for Gujarat Titans in IPL history

Shubman Gill etched his name into Gujarat Titans’ history books on Saturday, becoming the first player to cross the 2,000-run mark for the franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The stylish right-hander achieved this milestone during GT’s match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in IPL 2025, held in Lucknow.

During his 60-run knock, Gill faced 38 balls, hitting six fours and a six, striking at 157.89. He partnered with Sai Sudharsan for a 120-run opening stand, providing GT a blazing start. Sudharsan also impressed with 56 off 37 balls, but the rest of the lineup failed to build on the momentum, ending the innings at 180/6.

Gill’s milestone came in his 51st match for GT since joining the franchise in 2022. He now boasts 2,007 runs at an average of 44.60 and a strike rate of 147.89. His GT career includes four centuries and 12 half-centuries, with a best of 129. In the 2023 season alone, he piled up a staggering 890 runs, the highest in a single season by any GT batter.

In total IPL numbers, including his tenure with Kolkata Knight Riders from 2018 to 2021, Gill has scored 3,424 runs in 109 matches at an average of 38.04. His consistent run-scoring and match-winning abilities continue to cement his place among the elite batters in the tournament’s history.
