FIR filed against Mamata at Hare Street PS over communal remarks during poll campaign
The names of 19 Trinamool Congress MPs allegedly associated with the party's rebel camp became public after a signed letter addressed to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla surfaced on Friday. According to the document, the MPs informed the Speaker of their intention to align with the NDA bloc, ending days of speculation regarding the identities of those involved in the parliamentary rebellion.
The list of signatories includes Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, Dev, Saayoni Ghosh, Rachana Banerjee, June Maliah, Shatabdi Roy, Mala Roy, Abu Taher Khan, Khalilur Rahman, Kalipada Soren, Partha Bhowmick, Mitali Bag, Arup Chakraborty, Jagadish Barma Basunia, Prasun Banerjee, Sharmila Sarkar, Asit Mal, Yusuf Pathan and Bapi Halder. Among the signatories are several prominent party leaders and MPs who had previously been regarded as close to the Trinamool leadership.
The development comes amid reported divisions within the party's legislative and parliamentary wings. According to sources, around 20 MPs had earlier written to the Lok Sabha Speaker expressing their intention to join the NDA camp. The publication of the signed letter has now identified 19 MPs as participants in that move. Saayoni Ghosh, recently appointed Youth President in the party's newly announced committee, is also among those who signed the document.
Sources claimed that 14 MPs signed the letter on June 9 during a meeting held at the New Delhi residence of Union Minister Bhupender Yadav. Five additional MPs, including Mala Roy, Saayoni Ghosh, Yusuf Pathan, Mitali Bag and Rachana Banerjee, reportedly signed later. Sources further stated that around 20 MPs are expected to meet Speaker Om Birla on Monday to submit another letter expressing support for the NDA and seeking separate seating arrangements in Parliament. The MPs are also expected to attend a meeting in Delhi ahead of the proposed interaction.
