AR Murugadoss’ action drama Sikandar, starring Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna, has officially crossed the ₹200 crore milestone at the global box office. Despite receiving lukewarm reviews and a modest opening, the film has seen a surprising turnaround in performance, proving once again the power of mass appeal and star power.
According to the production banner Nadiadwala Grandson, Sikandar collected ₹200.93 crore worldwide by day 9. This includes ₹2.48 crore gross from India and ₹1 crore from overseas on Monday alone. A celebratory Instagram post thanked audiences for making the film “a part of their celebration,” as fans welcomed the news with excitement across social media.
Trade tracking site Sacnilk reported slightly different numbers, with an Indian net total of ₹104.25 crore and gross domestic earnings of ₹123.65 crore. Its global collection, as per these estimates, stood at ₹171.65 crore by day 9. Despite the gap in numbers, the common conclusion is clear — Sikandar is performing better than many expected after its shaky start.
This performance puts Sikandar ahead of Salman’s previous release Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, which collected ₹158 crore worldwide in its first 9 days. However, it still lags behind Tiger 3, which amassed ₹384.45 crore in the same time frame. Still, the film is being labelled one of the year’s highest-grossing Indian films so far.
However, competition remains fierce. The film trails behind Sankranthiki Vasthunam (₹255.2 crore), L2: Empuraan (over ₹257 crore), and the box office behemoth Chhaava (₹800+ crore). Sikandar is now expected to surpass Sankranthiki Vasthunam to secure a spot in the top three.
Sikandar tells the tale of Sanjay Rajkot, a raja who battles a corrupt politician in a gritty narrative of resistance and redemption. The film features an ensemble cast including Rashmika Mandanna, Kajal Aggarwal, Sathyaraj, Sharman Joshi, Prateik Babbar, and Sanjay Kapoor. While the direction and performances received mixed responses, the film’s commercial performance tells a different story.
