The ongoing Mango Festival in Siliguri, West Bengal, has become the spotlight for displaying the world's most expensive mango, the Miyazaki.
This exquisite fruit, priced at approximately ₹2.75 lakh per kilogram in the global market, has attracted immense attention at the festival.
The three-day Mango Festival, which started on June 9, features a stunning display of over 262 mango varieties. It has gathered participation from 55 producers representing nine districts of West Bengal. One notable farmer, Hussain, from the state, proudly showcased the Miyazaki mango, known for its exceptional quality and exorbitant price. The festival attendees marveled at this exclusive fruit, which surpassed even the cost of a Nano car.
Organized by the Model Caretaker Center and School (MCCS) in collaboration with the Association for Conservation and Tourism (ACT), the seventh edition of the Mango Festival is being held at a prominent mall in Siliguri.
While Miyazaki mangoes are traditionally associated with Japan, the cultivation of this variety has also expanded to Birbhum district in West Bengal. In a noteworthy development, a Miyazaki mango tree was planted near a mosque in Dubrajpur city.
Originating from the city of Miyazaki in Kyushu, Japan, these mangoes have garnered global recognition for their exceptional taste and quality. The name "Miyazaki" pays homage to its city of origin, and now it has found a remarkable presence in the Mango Festival, delighting attendees with its exclusivity and extraordinary price tag.
