At a rally in Barrackpore, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on the Trinamool Congress (TMC), accusing the state government of marginalizing Hindus and engaging in what he termed as "vote jihad" against the BJP. Modi asserted, "TMC has made bomb making a cottage industry in Bengal. Today, it has become difficult for a common man to follow his faith in Bengal.
TMC threatens people when they chant the name of Shri Ram. TMC does not allow people to celebrate Ram Navami... Hindus have become second-class citizens in Bengal under the TMC rule." He condemned the TMC for allegedly obstructing religious freedoms and fostering an environment hostile to Hindu sentiments.
Modi further criticized the Congress for neglecting the development of eastern Indian states during its decades-long governance. He emphasized the potential of states like West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha for economic growth and pledged to prioritize their development, stating, "'Modi' will make East India the growth engine of Viksit Bharat."
Additionally, Modi highlighted ongoing infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing connectivity and industrialization in the region. The Prime Minister's remarks come amidst the upcoming fourth phase of voting in West Bengal, with Modi expressing confidence in BJP's prospects, anticipating a stronger mandate than the party received in 2019.
