The death of a first-year student at Jadavpur University earlier this year has triggered heightened political tensions in the state, with all six accused individuals currently incarcerated. The university authorities have now taken additional action by barring the six accused from entering Jadavpur University.
The incident, which occurred in August, involved the tragic death of a teenager who fell from the main hostel in Jadavpur, Nadia. The first-year student, enrolled in the B.A. program, allegedly faced brutal physical and mental torture, leading to his unexpected demise. The accused individuals, identified as Deepshekhar Dutta, Monotosh Ghosh, Asif Afzal Ansari, Drukhan Sarkar, Satyabrata Roy, and RIF of various departments, are currently in jail.
The university authorities' decision to prohibit the accused from entering the campus comes as a response to the ongoing investigation into the student's death. As the case unfolds, the university administration's action aims to address concerns surrounding the safety and security of students within the campus environment.
