Smoke detected in Dum Dum-bound Kolkata Metro, passengers deboarded at Rabindra Sarobar

Panic briefly gripped commuters on Friday morning after smoke was detected in a Dum Dum-bound Kolkata Metro train at Rabindra Sarobar station. Metro staff noticed the smoke at around 10:37 am and immediately evacuated passengers from the affected train as a precautionary measure. The rake was subsequently inspected by railway personnel, while metro services on the corridor were temporarily affected.

The incident occurred amid heavy rainfall across Kolkata, with large sections of the city experiencing waterlogging and traffic disruptions. As many commuters relied on Metro services to avoid rain-related delays on the roads, the sight of smoke inside the train led to concern among passengers present at the station. Metro officials initiated an immediate examination of the rake after ensuring the safe evacuation of all passengers.
