Today at around 1:50 PM, Beleghata police station received information that a woman was found unconscious in her room at 57, Kabi Sukanta Sarani, Kolkata-85. Police reached the scene and found the approximately 65-year-old woman lying on the floor, with blood oozing from her mouth and no signs of life. The deceased was identified as Nandita Basu (65), wife of the late Kamal Basu.
Preliminary enquiries revealed that Nandita Basu resided at the address with her son, Mainak Basu (35). Officials confirmed that a domestic argument occurred between the mother and son earlier in the day. During the investigation, it was revealed that Mainak Basu allegedly assaulted his mother, which resulted in her death.
The body of Nandita Basu was removed to NRS Hospital for post-mortem examination. A case under Section 105 BNS has been registered in connection with the incident. Police have taken Mainak Basu into custody, and the investigation is ongoing to record statements and collect further evidence related to the case.
