Soni Razdan defends star kids amid nepotism debate

 Zoya Akhtar's film "The Archies" on Netflix has ignited a renewed discussion on nepotism within the film industry, as the movie marked the Bollywood debuts of star kids Suhana Khan, Agastya Nanda, and Khushi Kapoor. Alia Bhatt's mother, Soni Razdan, recently entered the conversation by defending the talent of these emerging stars amidst the ongoing debate on social media.

Responding to an Instagram post by Freddy Birdy that addressed the criticism of nepotism, Soni Razdan pointed out that individuals who criticize social media often come from backgrounds where they would prefer a career far removed from their parents' professions. She drew a parallel with the children of dentists, stating that they do not face similar scrutiny for choosing the same profession as their parents.

 Soni Razdan, who herself faced the challenges of being an outsider in the industry, emphasized the need to recognize that the world doesn't owe anyone a living and advised those struggling with the industry's challenges to consider alternative professions.

She acknowledged the pressure on star kids due to heightened expectations but stressed that success in the industry ultimately depends on possessing the necessary talent. Soni Razdan also acknowledged the difficulty of witnessing someone else secure a role that an individual may feel they could have performed better.

However, she concluded by stating that the transient nature of such situations and the inherent competitiveness in the industry necessitates resilience and a focus on personal growth.
