The Indian Under-19 team delivered a spectacular batting performance in the opening match of the Asia Cup 2025, played at the ICC Academy Ground in Dubai on Friday, posting a colossal total of 433 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their 50 overs. After losing the toss and batting first against the UAE, India overcame an early setback when Captain Ayush Mhatre was dismissed for just 4 runs in the third over. However, opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi then took charge, unleashing an aggressive and dominant century to anchor the innings.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's innings was the highlight of the day, as he slammed a massive 171 runs off just 95 deliveries, an innings laced with 14 sixes and 9 fours. He reached his century in a blistering 56 balls. Following Mhatre's early departure, Sooryavanshi was joined by Aarav George, and the duo forged a magnificent 212-run partnership for the second wicket before Sooryavanshi was finally dismissed. Aarav George also made a crucial contribution, getting out after scoring 69 runs.
After the solid foundation set by the top order, the middle and lower order ensured the team finished with an imposing total. Vihaan Malhotra played a brilliant innings, matching George with another score of 69 runs. Towards the end, valuable contributions came from Vedant Trivedi (38), and aggressive knocks from Abhigyan Kundu (unbeaten 32 off 17 balls) and Kanishk Chauhan (28 off 12 balls, including 3 sixes). For the UAE bowling side, Yug Sharma and Udhish Suri were the most successful, each picking up 2 wickets.
