Following the cessation of rainfall on Thursday night across South Bengal, including the capital city of Kolkata, a series of temperature increases has commenced.
In a statement released on Friday, the Meteorological Department reported that Kolkata's minimum temperature stood at 28.6 degrees Celsius, exceeding the normal range by two degrees. Conversely, the maximum temperature registered 30.7 degrees Celsius, which was two degrees below the usual mark.
The preceding day, Kolkata observed a maximum temperature of 28 degrees Celsius, accompanied by a minimum temperature of approximately 25 degrees Celsius. This shift was primarily attributed to continuous rainfall throughout Tuesday and overnight on Wednesday. Although regions such as Howrah, Hooghly, North and South 24 Parganas, East and West Medinipur, Purulia, and Bankura have not experienced rainfall, a slight rise in temperature has been noted.
Nevertheless, on Friday, the sky remained overcast with clouds, and intermittent light rain persisted throughout the day. This precipitation is anticipated to bring relief to the region, counteracting the recent temperature surge.
