A road accident occurred on Monday outside the Mother’s Wax Museum in New Town when a DN 47 route bus, travelling from Barasat to Karunamoyee, stopped to drop off passengers. At that moment, a speeding four-wheeler collided with the rear of the bus. The impact left several passengers injured, including those standing inside and near the door of the bus.
According to eyewitnesses present at the scene, the car driver appeared to have lost control of the vehicle before crashing into the stationary bus. Police from Eco Park police station arrived shortly after the incident and arranged for the injured to be taken to a hospital. The car driver was detained, and a medical examination was conducted to determine whether he was under the influence of alcohol.
Police have initiated an investigation into the accident. CCTV footage from the surrounding area is being reviewed to determine the exact circumstances. The authorities are awaiting the medical report to confirm the driver's condition, and further legal action will be taken based on the findings.
