A car lost control and crashed into a meat shop packed with customers near Gate No. 2 of Habra police station in North 24 Parganas on Sunday morning. The incident occurred during Jamai Shashti when local residents had gathered in large numbers to buy meat. The car hit multiple people standing in front of the shop, leaving five severely injured.
Eyewitnesses stated that the vehicle was moving towards Prafullanagar when it suddenly swerved and struck the queue of buyers. Locals rushed the injured to Habra State General Hospital. One of the victims was later referred to a hospital in Kolkata due to the severity of injuries. The names and ages of the injured individuals have not been officially released.
Police reached the location shortly after the incident, detained the driver, and seized the vehicle involved. An investigation has been initiated to determine the cause of the crash. Authorities are examining whether any technical fault or driver error was involved. No official statement has been issued regarding the identity or condition of the driver.
