In a tragic accident, a 65-year-old man lost his life after being hit by a bus on Brabourne Road in the Burrabazar police station area on Tuesday. The deceased has been identified as Jiban Poddar, a resident of Maheshtalla.
The incident took place when a speeding bus, traveling from Metiabruz to Howrah, struck the pedestrian while he was crossing the road. According to eyewitnesses, the impact caused Poddar to fall onto the road, leaving him seriously injured.
Passersby rushed to help and transported him to a nearby hospital. However, despite efforts by the medical team, doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
The accident caused significant disruption in the area as police cordoned off the site for investigation. The Burrabazar police have since seized the bus involved in the accident and have taken the driver into custody for questioning.
