A 25-year-old man died after his scooter lost control and plunged into a roadside ditch in the New Town area during the early hours of Thursday. The accident occurred around 2:50 a.m. while the rider was travelling at high speed from Ghuni Purbapara towards the New Town Bandh crossing.
According to reports, the scooter went out of control due to excessive speed, causing the rider to be thrown into the ditch. He sustained severe injuries and was found lying in a blood-soaked condition at the spot. Local residents rushed to help and alerted the police.
The injured youth was taken by a police ambulance to RG Kar Hospital, where doctors declared him dead in the morning. Police have started a probe into the incident, and further details are awaited.
