Bidhannagar Mayor Krishna Chakraborty resigns, another massive blow to TMC
India has once again reiterated its policy of not engaging in bilateral sports events with Pakistan, while confirming that teams will continue to participate against Pakistani sides in multination tournaments. The clarification from the Sports Ministry comes amid repeated calls for India to boycott Pakistan in the upcoming Asia Cup.
The ministry stated that Indian teams will not travel to Pakistan, nor will Pakistani teams be permitted to play in India for bilateral fixtures. However, in line with international sports practices, India will not withdraw from global or regional tournaments where Pakistan is also a participant.
This means the much-anticipated India-Pakistan clash in the Asia Cup will go ahead as scheduled in the UAE, where the tournament has been relocated despite India being the official host. Similarly, India has previously played ICC Champions Trophy matches in Dubai when Pakistan was the designated host, and future fixtures such as the T20 World Cup will also be held at neutral venues.
Officials emphasized that India’s policy reflects its larger diplomatic stance, while also protecting the interests of Indian sportspersons. The ministry further announced streamlined visa processes for international sports officials, highlighting efforts to strengthen India’s position as a trusted global sports destination.
