Serious allegations of intimidation, trespassing, and attempted land grabbing have emerged from the New Town area, where several landowners have accused local operatives and alleged syndicate-linked individuals of attempting to forcibly seize privately owned land. According to the complaints submitted by affected families, a nearby plot measuring 174 decimals has allegedly come under repeated pressure following a major land transaction in March 2026 involving DLF and the Srijan Group. The complainants alleged that individuals associated with firms identified as Makalu Builders LLP and Gangapurna Projects LLP repeatedly entered the property along with groups of 30 to 40 people, demolished portions of the boundary wall, and issued threats to the landowners. The affected families stated that written complaints were submitted to the Technocity Police Station and the Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate regarding the incidents.
According to the allegations, the accused individuals targeted the land shortly after DLF reportedly sold Techpark-2 and approximately 25.9 acres of land to the Srijan Group in a deal valued at nearly ₹696 crore. The complainants alleged that local residents and landowners were threatened with consequences if they resisted the alleged encroachment attempts. They further claimed that despite repeated complaints and appeals to the authorities, no substantial police action had taken place. The families stated that the disputed land belongs to Anita Sardar and others and has remained in their possession for several years.
Official land-related records cited by the complainants reportedly include a No Objection Certificate issued by HIDCO and ownership confirmation from the BLRO and DLRO authorities. According to the allegations, the boundary wall surrounding the land had earlier been constructed by DLF. The dispute has drawn attention due to the scale of the commercial development proposed in the surrounding area, including reports regarding a large real estate project in New Town. Police are yet to issue any official statement regarding the allegations raised by the landowners.
