Stampede-like situation at Khesari Lal Yadav event in Bihar; police lathicharge to control crowd

A cultural event featuring Bhojpuri singer and actor Khesari Lal Yadav descended into chaos in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur after a massive crowd gathered for his performance at a local fair. The incident occurred during a programme at the Arjun Babu cattle fair in the Garha area, where thousands of spectators had assembled to watch the popular singer perform.

According to reports, the situation began to deteriorate when the crowd surged toward the stage in an attempt to get closer to the performer. Barricades were broken during the rush, leading to pushing, shouting and damage to chairs and other arrangements at the venue. The unrest quickly escalated, creating panic and a stampede-like atmosphere among the attendees. As the situation spiralled out of control, police personnel deployed at the venue intervened to restore order. Authorities carried out a lathicharge to disperse the crowd after stone-pelting and vandalism were reported. Several people, including police personnel, were injured during the clash while security teams attempted to bring the situation under control.

Amid the disturbance, the programme had to be halted and Khesari Lal Yadav was escorted away from the stage for safety. Videos of the incident showing chaos and police action have since circulated widely on social media, raising questions about the security arrangements for such large public events.
