STF arrests two drug smugglers on Durgapur Expressway, Hooghly district, with 1 kg of heroin worth Rs 1 crore, Rs 20 lakh in cash and two mobile phones
Noni Gopal Biswas and Prasanjeet Sarkar were arrested after a tip-off, and legal action has been initiated against them under the NDPS Act
An investigation is underway to determine the origin and destination of the seized drugs
The Special Task Force (STF) has made a major breakthrough in drug trafficking by arresting two smugglers with a large quantity of drugs on the Durgapur Expressway in Hooghly district on Wednesday night.
The STF SP IPS Indrajit Basu revealed that the arrest was made after receiving specific information about the arrival of the smugglers. Upon their search, one kilogram of heroin worth around Rs. 1 crore, Rs. 20 lakh in cash, and two mobile phones were recovered.
The accused have been identified as Noni Gopal Biswas and Prasanjeet Sarkar and legal action has been initiated against them under sections of the NDPS Act.
Investigations are ongoing to uncover the origin and destination of the seized drugs.
