A stolen scooter was recovered within hours on Wednesday evening after a traffic patrol spotted a suspicious rider on A.J.C. Bose Road in Kolkata. At around 4:30 PM, Sergeant Kautuk Ghosh of the Park Circus Traffic Guard noticed a young man riding the scooter recklessly. With the assistance of Home Guard personnel stationed at the Bijli Gali crossing, they stopped the scooter for verification.
When the rider was asked to produce his driving license and vehicle documents, he was unable to provide any. At that moment, a woman passerby identified the scooter as hers and informed the officers that it had been stolen from her home earlier that morning. She also confirmed she had already filed a complaint at Beniapukur police station regarding the theft.
During initial questioning, the young man admitted to stealing the scooter. The traffic police have handed the case over to the local police for further investigation. This incident highlights the quick action taken by the traffic department to recover stolen vehicles in the city.
