In Howrah, West Bengal, stone pelting occurred again on Friday after the Ram Navami violence, but the police have taken control of the situation. Following the previous violence, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee stated on Friday that the BJP and other right-wing organizations were responsible for the Howrah violence. She urged the public to maintain peace in the region and emphasized that neither Hindus nor Muslims were responsible for the violence.
Mamata announced that the state government would provide assistance to those whose properties were damaged in the clashes, and strict action would be taken against the individuals involved in the clash. The police have arrested 38 people on charges of violence, according to media reports.
Mamata insisted that no sensible person would commit such a violent act during Ramadan and added that even Hindus were incapable of such behavior. She alleged that the recent stone pelting incident was planned a month ago, and the property of the attackers would be seized under existing laws. She praised the administration's performance but stated that some policemen were fearful and that the police should have barricaded the entire area to prevent further incidents.
In response to the Howrah incident, the Chief Minister stated that they would take legal action against the culprits and requested that peace be maintained during holy prayers on Friday. A large police force has been deployed in the area to ensure law and order.
