Stone-pelting near mosque leaves 8 women injured in Haryana's Nuh

In a distressing incident in Haryana's Nuh, at least eight women sustained injuries when unidentified individuals threw stones at them near a mosque on Thursday night, as reported by the police. The unsettling event occurred around 8:20 pm when a group of women was en route to perform a puja at a well. As they approached the mosque, they were allegedly targeted with stones, resulting in injuries to eight women. Responding promptly to the situation, Nuh Superintendent of Police Narender Bijarniya, along with a substantial police force, arrived at the scene to restore order.

According to police, the women were on their way to a 'Kuan Poojan,' and the complaint suggested that stones were thrown by some children from a nearby madrasa. An FIR has been registered in connection with the case, and three of the identified children have been taken into custody.

Tensions have once again escalated in the communally sensitive town, prompting a deployment of police around the mosque and the main market in Nuh to maintain law and order. The incident sparked protests among locals, but senior police officials and Nuh MLA Aftab Ahmed arrived at the scene, urging everyone to remain calm and avoid further escalation.

It's noteworthy that Nuh had previously witnessed a major communal incident on July 31, earlier this year, when clashes erupted in the Muslim-majority town. The clashes occurred during a Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) procession, resulting in six fatalities, including two home guards and a cleric.
