The Vande Bharat Express was once again targeted by anti-social elements in Bihar, raising fresh concerns about the safety of India’s premium semi-high-speed train. The latest incident occurred on Wednesday evening near Kastha railway station in Gaya district, when unidentified individuals pelted stones at the moving train, damaging the engine’s glass. The train was en route from Varanasi to Ranchi at the time.
Thankfully, no passengers were injured in the incident. However, the attack created panic among railway officials, prompting swift action by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and local police. Security personnel immediately rushed to the spot and launched a search operation in the nearby areas. Several suspects are currently being questioned, and an investigation is underway to identify those responsible.
The Vande Bharat Express, a flagship part of the ‘Make in India’ initiative, is celebrated for offering modern amenities and fast, comfortable travel. However, repeated incidents of stone pelting have been reported across various states, including Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. These recurring attacks not only threaten the safety of passengers but also cause significant damage to expensive railway infrastructure.
Railway authorities have taken the matter seriously and assured strict action against the culprits. To prevent further incidents, surveillance is being increased along vulnerable railway stretches, and extra security forces are being deployed in sensitive zones.
The Railway Police has also appealed to the public to avoid such destructive behavior and cooperate in safeguarding national assets. They’ve urged citizens to report any suspicious activity or information related to the attack at the nearest railway station or police post.
