Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
A farmer was injured by a stray bullet in Patna, suspected to have been fired from a nearby Army shooting range during routine practice. The incident occurred on Monday morning in the Daudpur locality, under the Shahpur police station jurisdiction, when the victim, identified as Vijay, was working in his field.
City SP (West) Bhanu Pratap Singh promptly arrived at the scene along with the local Station House Officer (SHO). Prima facie, investigations suggest the bullet may have traveled a significant distance from the Army's shooting range located in Shahpur. This incident highlights concerns regarding safety protocols around military practice areas, especially those in proximity to civilian habitations.
Vijay was immediately transported to a nearby government hospital, and his condition has been reported as stable and out of danger. Police officials are currently in communication with the victim's family members and senior Army authorities to further investigate the matter and determine the precise circumstances under which the bullet strayed from the range.
The incident underscores the importance of stringent safety measures and clear demarcation of danger zones around military firing ranges to prevent such accidents and ensure the safety of local residents. Authorities are expected to conduct a thorough inquiry to avoid similar occurrences in the future.
