Reconstruction of crime scene in Kasba as probe intensifies in Kolkata college student rape case
Shaik Jani Basha, popularly known as Jani Master, a renowned choreographer in the Telugu film industry, was taken into custody by Cyberabad Police in Bengaluru after allegations of sexual assault surfaced.
A former assistant choreographer has accused him of threatening and sexually assaulting her multiple times over six years, with the harassment reportedly beginning when she was still a minor.
The victim filed her complaint with the Raidurgam police, who initially registered a ‘zero FIR’ before transferring the case to the Narsingi police station based on jurisdictional grounds. After the allegations were made public, police invoked sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, along with IPC sections 376 (2)(n) (rape), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt).
Following the filing of the FIR, Jani Master went into hiding, prompting a manhunt. He was caught by the authorities on Thursday. The victim requested police protection due to threats from him. Jani Master is known for his work in major films like Stree 2, Baahubali, and Pushpa: The Rise, and now faces serious legal consequences.
