A 17-year-old student died on Wednesday after collapsing while playing Kabaddi at a private residence in suburban Bengaluru. The deceased has been identified as Sangeetha, a 1st PU (+1) student of St Philomena’s Pre-University College at Attibele near Anekal.
As per report, the death was suspected to be due to cardiac arrest. Sangeetha hailed from Dharwad and lived in Balagaranahalli. She was part of the women's Kabaddi team during the school's sports meet held on Wednesday. Around 3:45 pm, Sangeetha collapsed while playing Kabaddi. The school management immediately rushed her to a nearby hospital, where she was declared brought dead.
One of the teachers said that Sangeetha was a bright student and excelled in her subjects in college. “Before playing Kabaddi, she also participated in some other sports events, which she won. She was popular with all the lecturers because she was a bright student. She was also good at sports and games. My condolences to her family,” said Shivashankar Reddy.
Sangeetha's body was sent to her village to her family on Thursday.
