Trinamool Congress leader Sujit Bose appeared before the Enforcement Directorate on Thursday in connection with the South Dum Dum Municipality recruitment scam. His appearance follows a directive from the Kolkata High Court, which had earlier granted him temporary relief from attending summons during the election period.
The ED had issued multiple summons to Bose before the polls and had conducted raids at his residence and office, questioning family members as part of the investigation. Citing election commitments, Bose had approached the High Court seeking exemption from personal appearance during this period.
The court allowed temporary relief but directed him to appear before the agency once the elections concluded. Complying with the order, Bose arrived at the ED office with his lawyer and submitted a copy of the court directive to officials.
Sources indicate that he has been summoned as a witness in the case. Bose, however, refrained from making detailed comments to the media, stating only that he had presented himself before the agency as instructed.
