On Friday, the Supreme Court heard petitions related to the alleged paper leak and irregularities of the NEET exam. During this, the court has issued a notice to the National Testing Agency (NTA), the agency conducting the NEET exam, and sought a response on the petition demanding a CBI inquiry. The court has also issued notices to the students whose petitions are pending in different High Courts on the petitions filed by the NTA and sought their response. The court has said that it is important to know the response of the NTA. The apex court said that after the reply is filed, the next hearing on this matter will be held on July 8.
During the hearing, the petitioner's lawyer said that this matter is related to the future of 24 lakh students. In such a situation, the court should hear it soon. On this, the apex court said that we understand its seriousness. The lawyer also mentioned the suicide of the students. Hearing this, the court said that do not make such emotional arguments, it is important to see the response of the NTA while following the process of law. The alleged paper leak of the NEET exam has seen protests in many major cities of the country. While protesters protested against the paper leak at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, protests were also seen outside Vikas Bhavan in Kolkata. A group of students protested at Jantar Mantar and raised slogans of '24 lakh students want exam, not scam'. Students say that we have worked hard for the exam and now we want our seat. The NEET result was released on June 4.
The central government has denied the paper leak in the NEET UG exam. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that till now no concrete evidence of any kind of irregularity, corruption or paper leak has been found in the NEET exam. All the facts related to this are before the Supreme Court and are still under consideration. Politics is being done on this issue with an attempt to spread confusion. Due to this, the mental peace of the students is affected. The Education Minister further said that NEET counseling is about to start. Meanwhile, making the paper leak a political issue is inappropriate. Doing so is equivalent to playing with the future of the students. The government's focus has always been on ensuring the bright future of the students.
