Supreme Court's verdict on Article 370; Modi calls it a 'Beacon of Hope' for Jammu, Kashmir, & Ladakh

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has hailed the Supreme Court's verdict on the abrogation of Article 370 as "historic" and a "resounding declaration of hope, progress, and unity" for the people of Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh. 

In a social media post, Modi expressed his assurance to the resilient residents of the region that the government remains committed to fulfilling their dreams, emphasizing the determination to extend the benefits of progress to the most vulnerable and marginalized sections affected by Article 370.

The Supreme Court's unanimous ruling, validating the Centre's decision to revoke the special status under Article 370, is perceived as a significant boost for Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, along with Justices BR Gavai and Surya Kant, affirmed in the judgment that Article 370 was a temporary provision, and the president had the authority to revoke it. The court also upheld the validity of creating the Union Territory of Ladakh, separate from Jammu and Kashmir, on August 5, 2019.

Modi emphasized that the verdict is not just a legal judgment but a beacon of hope, promising a brighter future and reflecting the collective resolve to build a stronger, more united India, using the hashtag "NayaJammuKashmir."
