A high-rise apartment building in New York’s Bronx borough erupted in flames after a suspected gas explosion, with preliminary reports indicating multiple fatalities and injuries amid rescue operations. The blaze broke out early on Saturday, prompting a massive emergency response from fire and police departments in the city.
Eyewitnesses and early reports from the scene described a powerful blast followed by thick smoke and towering flames emanating from the upper floors of the residential tower. Fire crews responded with a four-alarm call, deploying more than 200 firefighters and emergency personnel to battle the intense fire as residents evacuated.
