West Bengal LoP Suvendu Adhikari on Saturday alleged that the police are “victimizing the victim” in their investigation into the alleged assault on a female minority morcha worker. He added that the officers are “protecting the perpetrators”. He once again demanded a CBI inquiry into the matter.
Adhikari wrote that the investigating officer and the officer-in-charge of the Ghoksadanga Police Station should be suspended for their “skewed and biased attitude, and the humiliation they have tried to inflict upon the victim,” whose alleged torture the BJP blamed on goons from the ruling party TMC.
On June 25, the saffron party alleged that the party’s minority morcha woman leader was beaten up, stripped, and dragged by her hair by TMC miscreants in Cooch Behar district on June 25.
The TMC, however, slammed the opposition leader for Adhikari’s comments. Jay Prakash Majumdar said that Adhikari has adopted “a preposterous, publicity-mongering attitude”.
