Muzaffarpur hospital blaze kills 3 patients, leaves 20 injured
Massive political tension gripped Cooch Behar on Monday after the convoy of Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari was attacked during a visit to the Khagrabari area. According to BJP leaders, Trinamool Congress supporters vandalized multiple vehicles, including a police escort car, as the convoy moved through the region.
Suvendu's own vehicle was also reportedly damaged. The situation worsened when the convoy rushed to the BJP’s district office for safety. With the area on edge, a heavy police force has been deployed to maintain order. Shubhendu is currently stationed at the party office amid tight security.
Trinamool has denied the allegations and blamed the BJP for provocation. However, Khagrabari has effectively turned into a flashpoint, with protesters hitting the streets. Reports indicate coordinated demonstrations in at least 19 different locations across North Bengal, further escalating the standoff between Bengal’s two main political rivals.
The incident comes ahead of crucial political engagements in the region and has reignited concerns over rising violence in Bengal’s northern districts.
