Suvendu faces TMC song during Bhabanipur campaign, slams police

BJP candidate Suvendu Adhikari faced a contentious situation while conducting a public relations campaign in the Bhabanipur constituency. While Adhikari was engaging with voters on foot during the final phase of campaigning, a Trinamool Congress (TMC) election song—specifically targeting the BJP—began playing loudly over microphones in the vicinity.

Expressing visible frustration at the incident, Adhikari questioned the impartiality of the local police stationed at the Kalighat and Bhowanipore police stations, alleging that the security personnel were failing to curb unauthorized political campaigning during his scheduled event.

The BJP leader, who is challenging Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in her home constituency, did not mince words when confronting the police. Adhikari alleged that his campaign faced unfair restrictions, noting, “You did not let me go to Mamata’s house for the campaign. I have complied with what you said. But why is the microphone playing? I will file a complaint against you.” He further claimed that while his own program was subject to strict scrutiny, the ruling party appeared to operate with impunity, leading him to accuse the local administration of bias.
