Suvendu warns Bangladesh High Commission of protest with 5 lakh saints

Suvendu Adhikari led a significant protest march to the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata on Friday. Accompanied by approximately 1,000 Hindu saints and seers, the march was organized to condemn the recent wave of targeted violence against minority Hindus in Bangladesh. The protest specifically highlighted the brutal lynching of Dipu Chandra Das and other atrocities reported across the border over the past week.

Adhikari, along with a select delegation of five senior saints, entered the Deputy High Commission premises to submit a formal memorandum. He issued a stern warning to the Bangladeshi authorities, stating that if the violence against Sanatanis does not stop immediately, the protest will escalate. He noted that over 5 lakh saints are expected to gather for the upcoming Ganga Sagar Mela, all of whom are prepared to lay siege to the diplomatic office if their demands for minority safety are ignored.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in New Delhi also issued a strongly worded statement on Friday regarding the situation. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal expressed that the Indian government is "deeply disturbed" by the unremitting hostility and continued attacks on minority communities in Bangladesh. The MEA reiterated that these incidents cannot be dismissed as mere political violence or media exaggeration and called for the perpetrators to be brought to justice under international protocols.
