A Pakistani cricketer participating in the T20 World Cup 2026 has reportedly been fined after allegedly misbehaving with a female hotel staff member in Kandy, Sri Lanka. The incident is said to have taken place while the Pakistan team was staying at a hotel ahead of their final Super 8 match against host nation Sri Lanka.
According to reports, the unnamed player from the Pakistan World Cup squad behaved inappropriately with a female housekeeping staff member at the hotel. The situation escalated when the staff member reportedly screamed for help, prompting other hotel employees to rush to her assistance.
Hotel authorities were informed about the matter soon after, and Pakistan team manager Naveed Cheema was alerted to the incident. The management of the Golden Crown Hotel reportedly demanded strict action over the alleged misconduct involving the staff member.
Following the incident, Cheema apologised on behalf of the player, and the cricketer was fined for his behaviour. The disciplinary action was taken internally by the team management while the squad was still in Sri Lanka for the tournament.
The Pakistan Cricket Board is now reportedly considering further action against the player. The cricketer may be summoned before the board’s disciplinary committee, where he could face additional punishment depending on the findings of the review.
